The PTA Sponsored Enrichment Classes provide opportunities for students to explore additional interests before or after school hours – to have fun and learn!  The programs are organized by parent volunteers through the PTA, and taught by qualified instructors.  The PTA is sponsoring these classes at a reduced rate or no cost to Williams Township Elementary enrolled students.
 

Session II

 
Spanish I – Beginning Spanish (Grades 3&4) – Fee:  $50.00
*10 week, 1 hr. class.  Instructor: Ms. Christa Hein, Spanish Instructor at Wilson HS
Give your child an early jump to a new language through this interactive learning experience.  Children will learn vocabulary for body parts, feelings, colors, numbers 1-30, months, days of the week, and much more.  Games and activities will reinforce learning.

Computer Lab – Beginning Computers (Grades 1&2) – Fee:  $25.00

This program will enrich student’s development of computer technology skills.  Students will come away from this program with an understanding and appreciation for the use of technology to complement their core school studies and will offer them the opportunity to determine their interest in science, technology, engineering, and math areas.

Intro to Photography (Grades 3&4) – Fee:  No Charge
*4 week, 45 min. class run by Dan’s Camera City
Students will gain an understanding of basic camera handling techniques, composing photos, choosing camera settings, and more.  This class will be very hands-on and students should have a compact point and shoot digital camera for the class.  Some weeks, students will receive an assignment to photograph certain items to increase their retention of information covered.  Students will even receive some free prints of their images to document their learning!

Da Vinci Science Program (Grades 1-4) – Fee:  $25.00
*6 week, 1 hr. class run by the Da Vinci Center
Science is fun!  Students will discover the science in art by creating new colors, growing and observing crystals, exploring how their vision works.  Students will also discover how fireflies glow and create glow-in-the-dark art.  A new topic will be covered each class.  Topic List: Color mixing, 3D and Vision, Fingerprinting, Building Structures, Glow, and Slime Science Class.

Drama (Grades 1-4) – Fee:  $35.00

This program is an introduction to theatre.  Students will participate in theatre games to help them become more comfortable with moving and speaking in public.  They will be coached in diction and vocal projection, learn theatre vocabulary, jobs, and etiquette.  They will pick a short story/play for the class to read together as a whole, pick a favorite character and "create" their character through character collages, games, rehearsing and performing excerpts from the text.  Furthermore, they will perform in a short showcase performance.

Lego Robotics (Grades 3&4) – Fee:  $20.00

This program engages students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) enrichment skills.  Students will build their own robotic creations each class using the LEGO Robotics System.  This program will teach them about simple machines, engineering, programming and much more.  Instruction manuals are computerized and groups will be used to complete projects.

School of Rock’s Little Wing Music Program (Grades K-2) – Fee:  $80.00

School of Rock is the pioneer and national leader in performance based music education.  This class will engage your child in musical experiences that will encourage the following:  making and recognizing rhythm patterns, singing and tonal processing, exercising both short and long term musical memory including kinetic memory, using musical syntax (sound and silence, musical dynamics, and sound structure), confidence through practicing and performing as an individual and as a band member as well as playing games to practice auditory focus and develop great listening skills.

Writing With A Purpose (Grade 3) – Fee:  No Charge

3rd grade students will learn how to free write, connect to text, and respond to formal prompts.  The class will reflect, share, and respond to each other, creating a risk free writing environment.  At the end of these sessions, they will know they can write anything regardless of their abilities, because writing is easy with the right tools!

Yearbook Club (Grade 4) – Fee: No Charge
*8 meetings (every other week), 30 min morning class run by Mrs. Jennifer Shunk and Mrs. Shea Bennett
The yearbook club will consist of 4th grade students and volunteers.  The club will help to choose the yearbook theme, a cover design, assist with picture taking, cropping, assist with page layouts and will also choose survey questions and create a questionnaire.  This club meets in the morning only.

Get Up and Move!  (All Grades) - Fee: No Charge
Let's Get Moving!  This class will be designed to get your child active and moving after being in school!  The class will start with instructions on how to warm-up safely.  Next children will rotate through centers to work on specific skill-based basic movement activities (e.g. throwing/catching a ball, kicking, dribbling, etc).  They will all come together for an interactive game and cool-down.
